Antwerp (Belgium) Wednesday, 25. January 2006

New revolutionary Noise Reduction Technology with an effective resolution of 19 bit @ 1 MHz for ADSL and ADSL 2plus test purposes.

Antwerp, Belgium, 25th January 2006 – Sparnex announces a technical breakthrough and apparently breaks the laws of physics with their new physical layer DSL testing platform based on the AAC Linear Signal Processing technology: this new noise cancelling technology achieves a circuit noise reduction that for thermal noise would require cryogenic cooling to below 40 Kelvin or –233° Celsius. The Noise Reduction Technology results in an effective resolution of 19 bit @ 1 MHz.

This tremendous dynamic range is developed for the new generation of Sparnex DSL Test Equipment like the active DSL line simulator. This universal DSL physical layer platform is a programmable bi-directional test platform for asymmetric and symmetric DSL technologies, and thus can cope with high transmit and low receive signals within the frequency band of 5 kHz to 4.5 MHz while retaining the impedance and delay characteristics of the simulated DSL line. This allows testing under low noise test conditions beyond the -140 dBm/Hz noise level of the conformance test market.

The company plans to implement this technology in their new compliance tester LSX 2030 for testing ADSL 2plus according to DSL Forum PD-137 Open Test Event and the new WT-100 recommendations.

The company also has plans to enter the VDSL 2 test market and investigates if this technology can be implemented for the cable models TP100, TP150, 24-AWG and 26-AWG in a frequency range up from 25 kHz to 35 MHz.

With this concept Sparnex addresses the market of chip designers and DSLAM manufacturers.

This is the first time that Sparnex enters the market of Compliance testers - until today typically the domain of passive line simulators.
